Lee County Jail Roster

The Lee County Jail Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. In the state of Florida, arrest and booking records are open according to the Florida Public Records Law. LeeCourt.us helps find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official booking search portal of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, by phone, or in person at the correctional facility's reception. The roster is maintained by the Corrections Bureau of the Lee County Sheriff's Office and is updated throughout the day as new arrests are processed.

Search Current Inmates in Lee Jail

There are several ways to find out if a specific person is in custody at the county jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to the Booking Search page on the Lee County Sheriff's website.
  2. Enter the inmate's last name. Optionally, add the first name to narrow down the results.
  3. You can filter records by custody status and booking or release date range.
  4. Click the search button. The system will display a list of individuals matching the criteria, including booking date, charges, and current status.

You will need the person's full legal name for the search. If the booking number is known, it will speed up the search. You can also use LeeCourt.us to view publicly available court information related to arrests in the county.

Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

By Phone

Call the Lee County correctional facility. The operator can confirm if the person is in custody if you provide the full name and date of birth.

Find Lee Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created every time a detained person goes through the jail registration process. During this procedure, the following are recorded:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of arrest and booking
  • Charges
  • Arresting agency (e.g., Lee County Sheriff, Fort Myers Police, or Cape Coral Police)
  • Mugshot
  • Bail amount, if set

The quickest way to find this data is to use the Booking Search portal. The portal shows records of individuals currently in custody as well as those recently released, depending on the selected date filter.

If you need an official copy of an arrest report or booking sheet, submit a request through the report request page of the Sheriff's Office. The Central Records Division processes such requests in accordance with Florida public records law. A fee may be charged for copies.

For individuals transferred to state-level facilities, check the Florida Department of Corrections inmate search.

Search the Lee Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The Lee County Sheriff's booking portal supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

  1. Enter the last name in the appropriate field. Ensure the spelling is correct, as the system is sensitive to letter errors.
  2. Add the first name if the last name is common (e.g., Smith or Johnson) to avoid dozens of results.
  3. If the exact spelling is unknown, try a shortened version of the last name—some systems support partial matches.

Search by Booking Number

The booking number is a unique identifier assigned during registration. Enter it, and the system will show one specific record without extra results.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of records may mean several things:

  • The person has already been released, and the record no longer appears in the active roster.
  • The last name was entered incorrectly or differs from the legal name (e.g., maiden name or alias).
  • The arrest was made very recently, and the data has not yet been entered into the system.
  • The person is held in another facility—municipal or state.

In such cases, contact the correctional facility by phone or submit a public records request through the Records Division of the Sheriff's Office.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Lee

The Lee County Jail Roster is updated throughout the business day. New records usually appear after the booking process is completed, which can take from one to several hours after the actual arrest. This means there is a delay between the time of detention and the appearance of information on the portal.

Key limitations to be aware of:

  • Publication Delay. A record may appear on the portal only a few hours after the arrest—the time depends on the facility's workload.
  • Disappearance After Release. When a person is released on bail or by court decision, their record usually disappears from the active roster. The portal is not an archive of all past bookings.
  • Data Entry Errors. Sometimes a name is entered incorrectly or in a non-standard spelling, complicating the search.
  • County Level Only. The roster displays individuals held in Lee County Sheriff's facilities. Inmates of federal institutions or Florida state prisons are not displayed here.

To search for individuals in the state system, use the Florida Department of Corrections database. A state-level criminal history check can be initiated through FDLE.

If you need older booking records that are no longer on the portal, submit an official public records request to the Central Records Division of the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Provide the person's full name, approximate arrest date, and any other known details—this will help expedite the request processing.
